Earlier this weekend, Samsung’s Galaxy S Duos 2 surfaced on the company’s India eStore. Moments ago, the company officially launched the mid-range smartphone for Rs 10,999.
To remind you of the phone’s specifications, the Galaxy S Duos 2 features a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card.
Additionally, it also includes a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, VGA front camera and a 1,500mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough to survive 8 hours of talktime and 280 hours on standby mode.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean wrapped under Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. With India as one of its main markets, Samsung is also offering support for as many as 10 Indian languages on the device. Apps like ChatOn, Facebook, Gmail and Newshunt can be customized to display text in languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Assamese, Marathi and Gujarati.
With the above mentioned specifications and price tag, it will be up against the HTC Desire X, though it is also likely to face some stiff competition from quad-core Android smartphones from local vendors.
